Gold Scrap
Weight Conversion and
Melt Value Calculator
This tool will tell you the amount of .9999 (Pure) Gold contained within a given quantity of Karat Gold alloy (7 Karat through 24 Karat). It then calculates the value of the pure Gold from the spot price that you
enter.
First you will need to seperate your gold jewelry by purity. In other words, seperate all your 14K from your 18K and so on. Then find an accurate scale and weigh each group individually. Once you have established the weight of your gold items you are ready to use the calculator. If you would like some helpful tips on
finding the purity of your gold and silver items, you can find it here... HINTS
Just enter the Gold Spot Price ( this is posted on the calculator), then select the weight type ( grams, pounds etc..) Select the purity ( 9K, 14K, 21K ...etc) and enter the weight of your gold items into the appropriate box. Then click the Calculate button.
You can enter the weight in Micrograms, Milligrams Grains, Pennyweights, Grams, Ounces, Troy Ounces, Troy Pounds, Pounds, Kilo's, Metric Tons, Taels (Hong Kong) and Tolas (India).
The calculator automatically subtracts the weight of the non-gold metal, then converts the remainder to troy ounces, then it multiplies the troy ounces times the spot price you entered in the first step. Click Here...
Gold was among the first metals to be mined because it commonly occurs in its native form, that is, not combined with other elements. Since gold is imperishable and because exquisite objects can be made from it, artisans of ancient civilizations used gold lavishly in decorating their tombs and temples. Gold objects that were made more than 5,000 years ago have been found in Egypt.
